AS AN EXPERT IN CREATING VALUE IN REAL ESTATE THROUGH PLANNING, FINANCE AND ENTITLEMENTS AND MANAGEMENT, JAMES R. ANDERSON HAS PLAYED AN INTEGRAL ROLE IN NUMEROUS INFLUENTIAL AND SUCCESSFUL LAND USE PROJECTS AND TRENDS OF THE LAST THREE DECADES.
AndersonPacific, LLC was formed to pursue the investment, planning, design, entitlement and development of community plans and mixed-use infill projects closely following principles intended to create livable and walkable communities. It currently manages over $1 billion in the re-positioning of fallow sites into mixed-use, transit-oriented, infill projects in key city locations. Over his career, Anderson been responsible for successful real estate projects comprised of 9,000 homes, 23 million sq. ft. of office, 1.5 million sq. ft. of retail, 2,000 hotel rooms and 5,600 acres of land planning.
Mr. Anderson was co-founder of CommonWealth Partners, LLC, which managed over $2 billion in real estate investment funds for the State of California. He was a key player in the move of California pension funds towards financing “smart growth” and “environmentally sustainable” development projects, and was integral in establishing the first CalPERS mixed-use fund for smart growth projects.
Prior to this, Mr. Anderson was a principal at Maguire Thomas Partners where he handled Los Angeles’ largest office real estate portfolio. He was responsible for the $1 billion Library Square Project, which was comprised of the financing and renovation of the historic Downtown Central Library, Maguire Gardens, Gas Company Tower, and Library Tower (now Bank One), the nation’s tallest office building west of the Mississippi.
Mr. Anderson received his Masters in Business Administration from the University of Southern California, and his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Illinois and the École des Beaux-Arts, France. He is an active member in numerous national organizations, universities and boards.
